Aims and tasks of Swiss SPTC

As the name says, Securities Post-Trading Services are the Swiss SPTC's sphere of competency. With respect to such services, the Council's task is to analyse international processing standards and their possible adoption in the Swiss Value Chain. The Swiss SPTC's activities include:

  • Acquiring information on the realisation of new directives, standards, recommendations etc. in the EU (from the relevant working groups, via official EU communication).
  • Processing and providing information for the Swiss market.
  • Processing and providing information, analysing the impact on processes and regulation in Switzerland - in the event of adoption or non-adoption.
  • Filing applications to the deciding body (application for the realisation of a project, request for information/communication, application for non-implementation).
  • Contact and information office for European bodies on harmonisation issues regarding Switzerland's Post-Trading Services.
  • Securing information exchange between representatives from Switzerland working in different international bodies to draft similar standards.
The Group generally convenes four times a year. Orders for detailed clarification of specific topics can be given to specialised working groups and groups of experts in the name of Swiss SPTC.
